Up until recently I knew very little about my
Geoghegan ancestry. However, thanks to Barry, my brother, who rooted out my
grandfather's birth certificate and some additional information, we were able
to back trace several generations further. The only link that I am even
slightly doubtful about is that between Thomas (1) and Matthew (2). Although
not proven, I don't se how they cannot be father and son. If anyone can link
into this tree at any point, I would love to add your information.

Generation
No. 1
1. THOMAS1 GEOGHEGAN He married
ANN MURRAY 11 August 1797. [In some

variously Ann(e) Murr(a)y.]

3. EDWARD3 GEOGHEGAN
(MATTHEW2, THOMAS1) was born 1842 in Tubberclaire Co. Westmeath.
He married CATHERINE FLANAGAN 1874, daughter of CHRISTOPHER FLANAGAN. Tubberclair is really on the "wrong" side of
Westmeath for this family, nonetheless his marriage record shows him to be from
"Nohill" which is another name for Kilkenny West, which is near Tubberclair.
The Flanagans are a family of long standing (and I
believe still extant around Curraghbrack. As
mentioned elsewhere, the census of 1901 has my grandfather (Thomas) living with
his grandmother (Ellen Flanagan).

i. MATTHEW4
GEOGHEGAN, b. 1874; d. 22 September 1946, Haggs,
Known to have died in Haggs,

Mary.
ii. ELLEN GEOGHEGAN, b. 1876. This is either a transcription error or this
Ellen died in infancy and the next born was named after her (not unknown)
iii. ELLEN GEOGHEGAN, b. 1878; d. 2 January 1962, Haggs,
4. iv. ANNE GEOGHEGAN, b. 1880. Married a Hughes and

would be my next closest Geoghegan relatives. However, I believe Matthew dies
